Rural Indiana Stats is designed to provide individuals, leaders, organizations and agencies with access to a basic set of data that can be used to guide and inform their program and investment activities. While the site is not intended to provide a full array of data items available at the county level, it is designed to offer users ready access to a core set of statistical data on Indiana’s 92 counties.

These include information on the socioeconomic, housing, and the fiscal attributes of each county. An added benefit of the site is the typologies that are available to determine the geographic classification of Indiana’s 92 counties, such as their metropolitan or nonmetropolitan status.

An added component to the site is the Community Vitality Indicators that the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) is employing to: (1) benchmark the current vitality of counties in the state; and (2) track progress being made by counties over time on each of the measures that make up the index.

It is anticipated that new data items will be added in the future, so we invite you to contact us to inform us of county-level data that you would recommend be added to the Rural Indiana Stats site.

The Rural Indiana Stats site was developed by the Purdue Center for Regional Development in partnership with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
