Farewell Contribution from Steve Abel, Associate Provost for Engagement

This will be my farewell contribution to the PCRD newsletter, on behalf of the Office of Engagement. I wish to share my congratulations and thanks to Roberto for his leadership of PCRD and wish him well in his new role. I’d like to thank the PCRD team for their excellence and contributions to Purdue. You are rivaled by few, if any.

On June 7, the Purdue Office of Engagement Societal Impact Fellows program nabbed a “top ten” nod from the Social Impact Summit’s 2023 Social Innovator of the Year Awards. Purdue was recognized at the start of the ceremony with other top-ten nominees, including Audible, the US Women’s National Soccer Team, and Visible by Verizon.

Social Innovation Summit is an event platform for a network of social impact leaders across corporate responsibility, philanthropy, investment, technology, and innovation. This year’s summit had 900 attendees, including social impact executives and other leaders from Adobe, AWS, BlackRock, GitHub, John Deere, Meta, Microsoft, the UN Foundation, the White House, and more.
